東京屈指のハウス発信地が大きな節目を祝う
Kuniyuki Takahashiによるリリースで2004年に始動した、Toshiya Kawasakiのレーベル〈mule musiq〉がContactで15年の節目を祝う。高い人気を誇るサブレーベル〈Endless Flight〉やミックスシリーズ「I’m Starting To Feel Okay」のほか、数多くの展開を行うまでに成長した〈mule musiq〉からは、きらびやかなハウスを定期的に発表してきたKuniyuki Takahashiだけでなく、DJ Sprinkles、Mr Raoul K、Lawrence、Fred Pといった錚々たるアーティストによる個性際立つディープなサウンドもその歴史を彩ってきた。
そんな〈mule musiq〉と共にこの特別な一夜を祝うのが、DJ Kozeだ。最後の来日からしばらく月日が経つものの、2018年のアルバム「Knock Knock」が与えた大きな衝撃により、その絶大な人気は現在も上昇を続けているDJ Koze。そのダンスミュージック・スタイルは〈mule musiq〉の音楽観と完全に一致しているといっても過言ではないほど、儚く繊細でありながら、身体を的確にとらえ、ダンスフロアに心温まる雰囲気をうながす有機的なかがやきに満ちている。Toshiya Kawasaki自身もラインナップに名を連ねる今回のアニバーサリーは、この重要レーベルを称えるにふさわしい、歓迎ムードと居心地の良い雰囲気で包まれるに違いない。
One of Tokyo’s leading house institutions celebrates a major milestone
Since starting out in 2004 with a release from Kuniyuki Takahashi, Toshiya Kawasaki’s Mule Musiq label has grown to encompass the equally celebrated Endless Flight sublabel, the I’m Starting To Feel Okay compilation series, and so much more besides. As well as a steady flow of glittering house music from Takahashi, luminaries such as DJ Sprinkles, Mr Raoul K, Lawrence and Fred P have all graced the label with their distinctive, deep-diving sounds.
Reaching the milestone of 15 years, Mule Musiq take over the Studio X Floor with a special guest of honour, DJ Koze. It’s some time since the lauded German producer has appeared in Japan, but he’s currently riding high after the sizable impact of his 2018 LP Knock Knock. Koze’s style of dance music aligns perfectly with the Mule aesthetic – delicate, sensitive but still physically toned in all the right places, and brimming with an organic sparkle that encourages a warm-hearted atmosphere on the dancefloor. With Toshiya Kawasaki also present to channel the sound of his label, it’s sure to be a cosy and inviting atmosphere at Contact in honour of this truly important label.
