ハウスミュージックの高揚で彩る周年の祝祭第2夜
今年もContactのアニバーサリーウィークが到来！ 果敢に攻めの姿勢で数々のパーティを貫いてきたこの1年。東京のナイトライフにこれからのクラブカルチャーを照らす場所として、アンダーグラウンドの才能から著名なアーティストにいたるまで拠り所を提供してきた。欧米のハウスやテクノ、そして、実験的なエレクトロニックミュージックにおけるキーパーソンだけでなく、国内で活躍するDJやプロデューサーも等しく重視しながら、数々の夜を彩ってきた12か月。その歩みにふさわしいラインナップで、今年も盛大にアニバーサリーを祝福する。
祝祭の第2夜を喜びに満ちたアップビートな雰囲気で彩るのは、USハウスのレジェンドTony Humphriesによる愉悦のDJセットだ。80年代にニュージャージーの名店Club Zanzibarでレジデントを務めたTony Humphriesが現在のハウスミュージックに与えた影響は計り知れない。ソウルフルでポジティブなボーカルを積極的に取り込んだスタイルは、ニューヨークのParadise Garageと並んで、のちのガラージサウンドの方向性を決定づけ、ニュージャージーサウンドとして確立された。ただし、それだけでTony Humphriesを語ってしまうのは無理があるだろう。30年以上にわたってダンスフロアを希望の光で照らし続けてきた彼のDJを味わったことがない人には、最高の初夜をこの祝祭で用意しよう。すでに体験済みのリスナーには、ふたたび“アノ瞬間”を約束する。
Contactフロアには、〈Dark Entries〉や〈HNYTRX〉といったレーベルから良作を精力的に発表している若き才能、Bézierが登場する。80年代のシンセミュージックの影響を感じさせるBézierのスタイルは、ついつい身体がうずいてしまう力強いグルーヴとクールで暗鬱とした雰囲気を併せ持っている。 胸熱の海外DJに加えて都内からは、Contactでレギュラーパーティを持つDJ NoriとDSKEのふたり、そしてToshiyuki Gotoも、IORIとのB2Bセットで参加。新たな1年に向けて杯を傾けるにふさわしいラインナップでアニバーサリーをアツく盛り上げる。

The second round of birthday celebrations focused on uplifting house music
As we reach the start of April, Contact takes the opportunity to reflect on another year of incredible, adventurous parties. The club has settled into the landscape of Tokyo nightlife, becoming one of the city’s beacons for forward-thinking club culture – a haven for underground talent and established names alike. The spectrum of music has spanned US and European house, techno and experimental electronics, but there’s equal importance placed on the wealth of talent closer to home for some wonderful nights over the past 12 months – all the more reason to celebrate as Contact reaches its third birthday.
For the second night of festivities, the mood will be joyous and upbeat as US house legend Tony Humphries lands for one of his exalted DJ sets. As one of the key residents of the famed Club Zanzibar, home of New Jersey sound, in the 80s, Humphries helped push a soulful strain of house music rich in vocals and positivity, which laid the foundation for what became known as garage alongside Paradice Garage in New York. However, his skill as a DJ has always been in reaching far and wide to set the dancefloor alight, which he’s continued to do for more than 30 years now. For the uninitiated, this night will provide a perfect debut experience. For his avid followers, you know it’s going to be another memorable moment.
Humphries will be joined by Bézier, a vital young talent who has spent the past six years building up a formidable body of work on labels like Dark Entries and HNYTRX. Versed in all kinds of 80s synth music, his style is infectious and energetic, but equally cool and moody. Alongside the hotly anticipated international guests, you can also expect to see some of the finest local talent helping toast another year of Contact, including two of the key Contact residents, DJ Nori and DSKE, as well as Toshiyuki Goto and Iori, both of whom will be teaming up for their much-talked-about intoxicating B2B set.
