重低音圧の限界に挑む
2000年代の誕生以来、ダブステップはテクノやハウスの要素を貪欲に取り込みながら、これまでにない独自のダンスミュージックへと進化してきた。テクノでありながら、テクノではなく、ハウスでありながら、ハウスでもない、しかし、サウンドシステムの影響を受けたこの音楽の重低音マナーは、確かに多方面のリスナーの心をわしづかみにする魅力を秘めている。その刺激的な可能性を音楽スタイルや老若男女を問わず体感できる場として、新パーティARTIFICIAL ARTが始動する！
初開催となる今回、Studio Xフロアを揺るがすのは、多彩な要素を合わせ持つサウンドで知られるBakeだ。スコットランド出身の彼は自身のレーベル”All Caps”から、Kowton、Bluntman Deejay、Fløristといったアーティストの作品をリリース。その運営手腕が話題となった。一方、持ち前の鋭い感性により、DJとしての評価も確立。Rinse FMでのレギュラー番組のほか、イギリス国内外のイベントやBoiler Roomへの出演をつうじて広範囲に存在感を示している。ARTIFICIAL ARTへの出演でも、最先端のUKアンダーグラウンドミュージックから意識までをも揺るがす強烈な選曲を披露するのは確実だろう。
HyperJuiceがホストを務めるContactフロアには、BUDDHAHOUSE、Keita Kawakamiなど、国内ベースミュージックシーンの有望アクトがラインナップ。そうした低周波の激震とは対照的に、Foyerフロアはスタイルに限定されない実験的なライヴパフォーマンスやバンドに焦点を当てる。
Defying the limits of bass
Since the early 2000, dubstep has evolved into a distinct type of dance music through fusing techno and house. The heavy influence of sound systems has appealed to many listeners with its possibilities. The new party ARTIFICIAL ART brings light to the subject by creating a unique experience for all types of people.
For its first edition, Studio X will be led by Scotland’s Bake known for his wide range of sounds. His label “All Caps” have released productions from artists such as Kowton, Bluntman Deejay, and Flørist. Along with his regular show on Rinse FM and appearances world wide including Boiler Room, he has built a name for himself as a DJ and label owner in the UK underground scene.
Contact floor, hosted by HyperJuice, features BUDDHAHOUSE, Keita Kawakami, and other locals in the bass music scene. Foyer floor will focus on live experimental performances that push boundaries.
