On Saturday 18. February Berlin Atonal brings New Assembly to the club, with a hard-hitting and eclectic programme taking place in Contact in Shibuya from 22:00 until late. Leading the line is DJ Stingray, the veteran techno producer who has been representing Detroit’s sound for over 25 years with legendary masked DJ sets around the world, and three dozen releases – including records on labels like Planet E and Mahogani Music as well as collaborations with Dopplereffekt’s Heinrich Mueller. A show from Sigha (Blueprint, Avian, OCS and most recently, Token) offers a chance to see a producer at the top of his game, playing live for the first time in Japan. Laurel Halo is known as one of the most forward-thinking DJs active today, and will bring to New Assembly a trademark heterogeneous, moody and frenetic set, uniting all the various strands of her musical interests. The main room programme is filled out by Osakan footwork mutant DJ Fulltono and Contact mainstay Okuda. The Contact room augments the energy of the first with an equally unorthodox and uncompromising selection of artists. Renick Bell, the explosive recent signing to Lee Gamble’s UIQ label, will use his own algorithmic live coding environment to produce a generative, unpredictable alien music that exists somewhere between Techno and Footwork. He will be accompanied by two very unique Japanese DJs: Yousuke Yukimatsu hailing from Osaka, a host of the Zone Unknown party whose singular style blends all things unexpected, and Tokyo’s 100mado known for exploring the low frequency science through Back To Chill events alongside Goth Trad and Ena for many years.
