異質の交差が生む音楽の調和の深遠
電子音楽と、ヒップホップやジャズ等のファンクネスの独自の交雑をすすめる音楽集団FLATTOPが、幾度の延期を経て1年ぶりの開催。今回も、強い個性と緻密なエレクトロニクスがアヴァンギャルドに交わる、現行シーンとは軸を異にしたFLATTOPらしい音楽空間が3フロアを開放して表現される。
Studio Xにラインナップされる4組のライヴアクトはベースをヒップホップとしながらもあまりにも自由かつ複層的な音楽性を特徴にしている。姫路のクルーDONA JEEZYから、ハイエレクトロニクスのトリッピーなトラックに感覚的なラップを融合させるanddy toy store。人々の感情の動きや空気感、漂う様々なものをラップに落とし込む愛染 eyezenのスモーキーなフロウは、鮮明な景色を見せながらもリスナーを深い陶酔に誘いそうだ。SIMILABの中枢神経Hi’Specの豊潤でいて限りなく自由なビートは、 ファンクネスを巻き込みながらときに狂気的な緻密さまで発展する。さらにSIMILABの最深部の番人OMSBは、今年発売された2枚のEP「MONKEY」、「HEAVEN」の中で、ドープなエレクトロニクスと重厚なラップスキルで、途轍もない世界を表出させた。MITAYOとYELLOWUHURUによるB2Bが描くセットは現FLATTOPの方向性を象徴するものになるかもしれない。違う方向へ突き出たオルタナティブ/エクスペリメントなサウンドの名手同士の化学反応は、複雑でありながらそれを感覚的なものへと変換させた快楽要素に溢れる音楽体験の期待を抱かせてくれる。suiminの無二の感性による音楽の魔法の効能や、ジャズの即興性を独自の電子音楽科学で鳴らすTonydotなど、このラインナップにのみ実現可能なモダンな音楽空間が広がる。
FLATTOPクルーでミュージック・ハードラヴァーBungo、Desko Deskaの二人がガイドするContactフロアにも、このパーティの優れた一面が垣間見える。肩の力を抜いたディスコサウンドで、リスナーを悠々と現実から引き剥がすCALPISSや、レーベル〈PHAT〉主催でジャンルを無視しながら音楽の核を紡ぐデニロウといった、音楽巧者が集結。さらに、Foyerフロアでは電子音楽の先にある次の可能性を探りながらもこのパーティらしい有機的なサウンドが交配される。wagot、螢のライヴや、FLATTOPの乾針、煙たく/虚しく/色鮮やかな音を基本概念にすえるadak7、ハウスから変遷した前衛的なサウンドINAといったラインナップは、アンビエントやドローン、エクスペリメンタルの中に温もりを発見するクリエイティブなフロアメイクを実現させている。

The harmony of music created by the intersection of heterogeneity
The music collective FLATTOP returns to Contact after 1 year of postponements with their own distinct blend of Electronic Music, Hip Hop, Jazz, and other funky sounds. Once again, FLATTOP creates an atmosphere with strong individuality and precision, where electronics intersect with the avant-garde that’s fit for the current scene throughout 3 floors.
The lineup in Studio X features 4 live sets that are Hip Hop-based yet multi-layered with a lot of freedom. From DONA JEEZY, a crew based in Himeji, anddy toy store fuses rap with trippy electronic tracks. 愛染 eyezen’s smokey flow incorporates the movement of people’s emotions, space, and various things, painting a vivid scenery that lure the listeners into deep trance. Hi’Spec, the core of SIMILAB, expresses freedom through his beats that are rich and mature. OMSB, another SIMILAB member, released 2 EPs this year, 「MONKEY」and「HEAVEN」, filled with dope electronics and undeniable rap skills. The B2B set by MITAYO and YELLOWUHURU may turn out to be symbolic of the direction FLATTOP is taking. The alternative/experimental sound that projects in a different direction will give birth to a complex and blissful music experience that will stimulate the senses. From suimin’s sorcery in music, Tonydot’s interpretation of improvisational Jazz through electronic music, the lineup will ensure a space with modern music with endless possibilities.
Contact floor, navigated by FLATTOP crew members Bungo and Desko Deska, gives a glimpse into the different side of this party. CALPISS, comfortably taking the listeners away from reality with relaxed sounds of disco, デニロウ, owner of the genre-less label〈PHAT〉, and other music experts will be gathering for the occasion. In addition, Foyer floor goes beyond electronic music to explore the possibilities even further. Live sets by wagot and 螢 -hotaru-, FLATTOP’s 乾針 -Karahari-, colorful sounds by adak7, INA’s advanced sounds transitioned from House, will be filling the floor with ambient/drone/experimental.
