The New York disco pioneer brings his fabled residency to Japan

Francois Kevorkian is one of the few titans of New York’s legendary disco scene to still be active and wholly relevant in 2019. Starting out as a percussionist alongside pioneering DJ Walter Gibbons, Kevorkian went on to become in-house producer / remixer for the mighty Prelude Records in the ‘80s, DJ’d many times at Paradise Garage, was a resident at Body&SOUL in the ‘90s, and has continued to forge ahead at the forefront of dance music culture through its many iterations and evolutions.

Funky Sensation is Kevorkian’s personal stamp of quality – a respected party formerly held at Brooklyn club Output before it closed earlier this year. It’s the space in which he can explore the roots of his sound – funk and disco especially, but not bound to strict genre definitions and drawing on a broad range of influences and styles.

When he brings Funky Sensation to the Studio X Floor, you can expect to hear a rich variety of party music that nods to Kevorkian’s deep well of experience and taste – an omnivorous sonic experience sculpted by a true master.
