One of Chicago’s deepest DJs comes to town

The best DJs are those who dig the deepest, and Sadar Bahar is living proof that it pays to go that extra mile in search of special music. Having cut his teeth dancing to the legendary Ron Hardy, Chicago native Bahar has gone on to earn a reputation amongst the most discerning music heads for the kind of soulful, organic, life-affirming selections that make for unforgettable dance floor moments. Boasting a collection that surpasses 14,000 records, and with his fans including Theo Parrish and 4Hero’s Dego, Bahar will be bringing his years of knowledge, dedication and passion to the Studio X Floor. Sharing the decks with him is DJ Nori, a Japanese veteran who was part of the New York dance music scene in its 80s heyday. With his long-standing career, over which he DJed with Larry Levan and starred in underground dance music documentary Maestro, the Tokyoite pioneer will create a must-see moment with his Chicago counterpart.

Elsewhere, the long-serving DJ Kensei and fast-rising Sauce81 will be among the many names filling out the vibes on the Contact Floor. Kensei has been immersed in obscure music cultures in Asian countries to explore an under-the-radar corner of regional beat music in recent years, while Sauce81’s broken beat and acid jazz styles have attracted international recognition via releases on “Eglo Records” and “Endless Flight.” It will be worth catching the crossover between Kensei’s DJ set and Sauce81’s live performance, when the two will jam to make the transition as smooth and unique as possible.
